Adway buys paid social, Appcast buys job boards. Compared on output, creative, ATS and published pricing, with RecruitmentAds as a third column.

# Adway vs Appcast (2026): which recruitment ad tool is right for you?

This page is about Adway (adway.ai, Gothenburg) and Appcast (appcast.io, Lebanon NH), the recruitment advertising platforms. It is not about the unrelated companies that share the Adway name in other markets, and 'app cast' searches normalise to the same Appcast brand.

Both platforms are sold as programmatic recruitment advertising, but they buy different inventory: Adway runs paid social, Appcast runs job boards and search. This page compares what each one actually ships, where the creative comes from in each case, and what neither of them sells on its own. It also discloses RecruitmentAds.com, our own product, as the third column. Neither Adway nor Appcast publishes a price, so evaluating either one begins with a sales call.

What each tool ships

## Adway

Adway syncs your ATS or crawls your career site, generates job ads and EVP video from that content in its own template system, and then buys and manages the media for you across Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Google Ads, Reddit and Discord, publishing weekly. Alongside the ads it ships Social Talent Pools, Boost, an in-feed Social Apply that writes back to the ATS, and Predict for spend forecasting. Founded in 2017 in Sweden, it reports 298 clients and ads served in 54 countries, and has an official Adecco Group rollout across Adecco, Akkodis and LHH.

## Appcast

Appcast is the volume leader in programmatic job-ad distribution: jobs come in through ATS auto job import, and its Xcelerate and AppcastOne products push and rebalance spend across what Appcast calls the world's largest job ad exchange, plus Google and Bing search ads, display and email/SMS re-engagement, with impression-to-hire reporting. StepStone Group has owned the majority since July 2019, and the July 2023 Bayard Advertising acquisition added a managed employer-brand and creative agency arm. Its annual Recruitment Marketing Benchmark Report, now in its tenth edition, is the industry's default source for what job ads cost.

## RecruitmentAds.com

RecruitmentAds.com is creative software with a narrower job: paste a live vacancy URL and it exports an on-brand recruitment video plus matching static ads in square, vertical, feed and landscape from a locked brand template, with AI voice-over and a per-campaign choice of visual source: AI-generated scenes from the job description, real employee photos in on-brand layouts, or approved assets only with no AI people. It does not buy media, does not distribute to job boards, and has no native ATS integration. Plans and a 90-day pilot are priced publicly, so it can be evaluated on one live vacancy before anyone talks to sales.

## Adway vs Appcast vs RecruitmentAds, row by row

Every cell names its vendor so it survives being quoted on its own. Facts are dated where they move. If you want to evaluate before you talk to sales, read the pricing row first: it is the row where these three products differ most.

Facts verified 2026-08-06. “—” means not published by the vendor.

| What it is | Adway is a Swedish AI social-recruiting platform that syncs your ATS or career site and runs always-on multi-channel job ads with programmatic media buying included. | Appcast is the US programmatic job-advertising leader, majority-owned by StepStone Group since July 2019, which buys and optimises job-ad media across thousands of job boards and search. | RecruitmentAds.com is creative software: a live vacancy URL goes in, an on-brand recruitment video and matching statics for Meta and LinkedIn come out. |
| What you are actually buying | With Adway you buy a managed social-recruiting programme: creative, media buying and in-feed apply arrive as one commercial unit, not as an ad-set you take away. | With Appcast you buy optimised media spend; creative exists only inside a separate managed engagement with its Bayard-heritage Brand & Creative arm. | With RecruitmentAds you buy finished creative per vacancy (one credit is one approved video set with every standard format plus matching statics), and you keep your own ad accounts and budget. |
| How a vacancy gets in | Adway ingests vacancies through ATS sync (it claims 30+ platforms and names 34 on its integrations page) or through a career-site crawl; its EB-flash module starts from a pasted career-site URL. | Appcast ingests jobs through ATS auto job import into Xcelerate and AppcastOne: feed-first by design, rather than one vacancy at a time. | RecruitmentAds starts from a single live vacancy URL or pasted job text, which is why one role can be run through it without a feed, an integration or an implementation project. |
| Video output | Adway generates video in software: EB-flash builds EVP films from career-site content as an Anthem track plus 15-, 12- and 10-second story cuts in 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1, and Always-On ads include motion formats animated from statics. | Appcast produces video only as a managed agency deliverable inside a Creative Studio engagement (Discover, Build, Activate, with monthly reviews and quarterly business reviews), so it is not software output and not per vacancy. | RecruitmentAds generates a recruitment video per vacancy from the job post (script, visuals and AI voice-over) and exports square, vertical, feed and landscape from one locked template. |
| Static ads | Adway produces static image-and-copy ad variants automatically adapted per channel as part of its Always-On Job Ads. | Appcast has no static-ad generation product; static creative exists only as bespoke deliverables from its Brand & Creative arm, such as search, display and Performance Max assets. | RecruitmentAds includes matching statics in the same finished creative set as the video, so a video-versus-image test on one vacancy costs one credit. |
| Choice of visual source | Adway derives visuals from your career-site and EVP crawl plus supplied brand material into its own template system; it publishes no per-campaign choice between AI-generated visuals, real employee photos, or approved assets only. | Appcast offers no visual-source choice as a product feature: creative is bespoke agency production, so the visual approach is agreed inside the engagement rather than picked per campaign. | RecruitmentAds makes the visual source an explicit per-campaign choice: AI-generated scenes from the job description, real employee photos placed in on-brand layouts, or approved assets only with no AI people. |
| Brand governance | Adway offers partial governance: customisable Creative Studio templates, auto-versioning for global and local markets, and a review-before-live gate that can be switched to full autopilot. | Appcast delivers brand consistency as a service (EVP-aligned messaging architecture and creative direction under Appcast Brand & Creative) rather than as controls inside software. | RecruitmentAds locks the brand template so recruiters export inside marketing's rules and marketing can disable visual modes per template; it does not ship full role-based approval workflows today. |
| Media buying and channels | Adway includes programmatic media buying across Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Google Ads, Reddit and Discord, publishes weekly, and adds region-specific niche channels on request. | Appcast buys across thousands of job boards including Indeed, ZipRecruiter and LinkedIn, plus Google and Bing search ads, display Brand Ads and email/SMS re-engagement, with global reach through the StepStone and The Network alliance. | RecruitmentAds does not buy or manage media; that is not what it sells. You upload the exported ad-set to your own Meta or LinkedIn campaigns, so budget, targeting and reporting stay in your accounts. |
| ATS integration | Adway names 34 ATS integrations on its integrations page, including Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Teamtailor, Greenhouse, Bullhorn and SmartRecruiters, and claims auto-sync to 30+ platforms. | Appcast treats ATS auto job import as core to its platform but publishes no integrations list: appcast.io/integrations/ returned a 404 when checked on 5 August 2026, so names and counts are unknown. | RecruitmentAds has no native ATS integration; it is not shipped. It reads the vacancy from a URL or pasted text and sits beside your ATS rather than inside it. |
| Pricing model and published prices | Adway publishes no prices; it sells consumption-based custom quotes covering platform access plus programmatic ad spend, and no pricing page existed in its sitemap when checked on 5 August 2026. | Appcast publishes no prices either; it sells performance media on CPC and pay-per-applicant terms under custom quotes, and TrustRadius lists its two editions as $0 to $0, the quote-only tell (secondhand, 5 August 2026). | RecruitmentAds publishes its numbers: direct plans list at €299, €499 and €833 per month on annual terms for 100, 250 and 500 finished creative sets a year, with a 90-day pilot at €399, €699 or €999 before any annual commitment, and custom setups quoted on request. |
| Company and ownership | Adway was founded in 2017 in Gothenburg, is VC-backed (a SEK 32M seed in June 2021 and a €10M Series A led by Octopus Ventures in November 2022), and secondhand trackers put it in the 51-100 employee band. | Appcast was founded in 2014 in Lebanon, New Hampshire, StepStone Group acquired the majority in July 2019 for around €70M, it bought the 1923-founded agency Bayard in July 2023, and its own copy claims 450+ staff globally. | RecruitmentAds.com publishes no headcount and is materially smaller than both vendors here; the honest trade is scale and media reach on their side against published pricing and per-vacancy creative output on ours. |
| Reviews | Adway is listed on G2 at 4.8 out of 5 from 8 reviews, praised for ease of use and ATS integration, with reviewers noting templates are 'somewhat generic and require modifications to match organizational employer branding' (secondhand, 5 August 2026). | Appcast is listed on G2 at 4.3 out of 5 from 130 reviews, and reviewers describe a responsive, organised agency: the service relationship, not software UX, is largely what is being rated (secondhand, 5 August 2026). | RecruitmentAds cites no third-party review score here, because it has no comparable review volume to cite; it asks to be judged on output instead: run the 90-day pilot on your own live vacancies. |
| Languages | Adway claims multi-brand, multi-region and multi-language delivery from one dashboard and says its ads run in 54 countries, but publishes no supported-language list. | Appcast publishes no language list and claims global hiring support with local market expertise, so localisation scope has to be confirmed in the sales conversation. | RecruitmentAds exports on-screen text and AI voice-over in any language you pick at export, from the same locked template; a second language counts as another finished creative set. |
| Best fit | Adway fits European enterprise TA teams, staffing agencies and RPOs that want always-on paid social recruiting run end to end, with the Adecco Group rollout as its scale proof. | Appcast fits US enterprise and high-volume employers spending six figures on job-board media who want distribution, budget optimisation and measurement handled for them. | RecruitmentAds fits teams whose media is already handled (by Adway, by Appcast, by an agency or in-house) and who need on-brand video and static ads per vacancy faster than a production cycle allows. |

## Which of the three should you choose?

Choose Adway if…

Your hiring problem is passive reach in Europe and you want one vendor to own it: ATS sync in, always-on ads out across social channels, media bought and managed for you, applications captured in-feed and written back to the ATS. You are comfortable with a custom quote and with creative that comes out of Adway's template system rather than yours, and you have someone to run a procurement cycle. The Adecco Group rollout and five years on the Fosway 9-Grid are the reassurance an enterprise buyer usually needs.

Choose Appcast if…

You spend real money on job-board and search media in the US and the money, not the creative, is the problem. Appcast is the deepest programmatic distribution in the category, with CPC and pay-per-applicant models, impression-to-hire measurement and a decade of benchmark data behind the numbers your team argues about. Take the Bayard-heritage creative arm as an option, not a default: it is a managed engagement with monthly reviews and QBRs, so scope and cost it separately from the media.

Choose RecruitmentAds if…

Your media is handled and your bottleneck is creative per vacancy: you need an on-brand video and matching statics for every role, in your locked template, with the visual source chosen per campaign, whether that is AI scenes, real employee photos, or approved assets only. You want to see the price before the call and evaluate the output on one live vacancy this week rather than after an implementation. Accept the limits in return: no media buying, no job-board distribution, no native ATS integration.

Who should pick what

Sole recruiter

A sole recruiter is not the buyer for either platform (Adway sells managed programmes to enterprise TA and Appcast expects a media budget in the six figures, and neither publishes a self-serve price), so if you are filling a handful of roles a month and need ads for them, creative software you can run yourself, RecruitmentAds included, is the realistic shortlist.

TA team

A TA team with feed volume and a real media budget should shortlist by inventory rather than by feature list: Adway if the gap is passive social reach across Europe, Appcast if the gap is job-board and search coverage in the US. In both cases the creative question stays open, because Adway's ads come out of its own template system and Appcast's come out of an agency scope.

Employer-branding-led buyer

An employer-branding-led buyer will care that Adway offers customisable templates with a review-before-live gate but no choice of visual source, and that Appcast's brand work is a consultancy engagement rather than controls in a product, so a requirement like 'approved assets only on every export, decided per campaign' is a product feature in RecruitmentAds and a scoping conversation with either of the other two.

## What most Adway vs Appcast comparisons miss

The two are usually presented as two flavours of the same purchase, but they buy different inventory, and that is what decides which candidates you reach. Adway's media runs on paid social (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Google Ads, Reddit, Discord) in front of people who are not looking for a job. Appcast's media runs on job boards plus Google and Bing search ads and display, in front of people who already are. Large employers routinely run both, which makes 'which one' the wrong first question and 'which candidate source am I short of' the right one. The second thing that gets flattened is creative. Both vendors are credited with it, but Adway's is generated in software from a career-site crawl, while Appcast's has been a managed agency deliverable since it acquired Bayard in July 2023: a product on one side, a retainer on the other, and the difference shows up in lead time and in who owns the files. Worth knowing where the received framing comes from: on 6 August 2026 the highest-ranking comparison of this pair on US Google was Adway's own blog post, and no independent comparison ranked on page one.

## Evaluate RecruitmentAds on your own vacancy

The fastest way to find out whether creative is your bottleneck is to run one live vacancy through it. Paste the job URL, pick the visual source (AI scenes from the job description, real employee photos, or approved assets only) and look at the video and statics that come out in your own brand template. Plans and the 90-day pilot are priced on our pricing page, so you can evaluate the cost and the output before you book anything. If the answer turns out to be that you need media bought rather than creative made, Adway or Appcast is the better call, and this page has tried to tell you which one and why.

## Questions buyers actually ask

Adway vs Appcast: which is better?

Neither, in the abstract: they buy different inventory. Adway is better if your gap is passive reach on paid social, especially across Europe, and you want the media managed with applications captured in-feed and synced to your ATS. Appcast is better if your gap is job-board and search coverage, especially in the US at six-figure media spend, and you want CPC or pay-per-applicant pricing with impression-to-hire measurement. Because both are quote-only, the honest comparison is between two proposals you have to request, not between two published prices.

What is the actual difference between Adway and Appcast?

Adway is a paid-social recruiting platform that generates the creative in software from your ATS feed or career site and then buys the media across channels like Meta, LinkedIn and TikTok. Appcast is a programmatic job-ad distributor that pushes your jobs across thousands of job boards plus Google and Bing search ads and optimises the spend, with creative available separately as a managed agency engagement from the Bayard arm it acquired in July 2023. One is social-first with creative built in; the other is board-and-search-first with creative bolted on.

Do Adway or Appcast publish their pricing?

No. Adway sells consumption-based custom quotes covering platform access plus programmatic ad spend and had no pricing page in its sitemap when we checked on 5 August 2026. Appcast prices performance media on CPC and pay-per-applicant terms under custom quotes, with no first-party dollar figures published anywhere; TrustRadius records its editions as $0 to $0, which is how quote-only shows up in a directory. RecruitmentAds publishes plan and pilot prices, which is the one part of this shortlist you can evaluate upfront without a call.

Can I buy just the ad creative from Adway or Appcast?

Not really, in either case. Adway's creative is generated inside its managed programme and published by its own media buying, so it is not sold as an ad-set you take away. Appcast's creative comes from a managed Brand & Creative engagement with discovery, monthly reviews and quarterly business reviews, scoped at EVP and campaign level rather than per vacancy. If what you want is finished video and static ads for the roles that are open right now, that is a separate purchase: it is the one RecruitmentAds makes, and it is why creative and media are worth treating as two decisions.

Can RecruitmentAds replace Adway or Appcast?

No, and it should not be shortlisted as if it could. RecruitmentAds does not buy or manage media, does not distribute to job boards, and has no native ATS integration; you upload its exports to your own Meta or LinkedIn campaigns. It replaces the creative production step: a vacancy URL becomes an on-brand video plus matching statics, with the visual source chosen per campaign under a locked template. Teams most often run it alongside a distribution vendor, not instead of one.

## How we compared these three, and what to know when you evaluate them

Every product claim on this page was taken from each vendor's own live pages between 5 and 6 August 2026 (Adway's platform, EB-flash, Always-On Job Ads, integrations and about pages; Appcast's AppcastOne, Xcelerate, Brand & Creative, Creative Studio and our-story pages), and dated where it is likely to move. Company, funding and ownership facts come from primary announcements where they exist. Three caveats you should carry with you. First, all review data here is secondhand: G2 ratings were read via search rather than fetched, and Appcast's G2 reviewers are largely rating an agency relationship, not a software UX. Second, neither vendor publishes a price, so every cost figure in a shortlist for these two is a quote you have to go and get; RecruitmentAds is the only column here you can price from a public page, which is the practical reason it is easier to evaluate upfront. Third, we sell RecruitmentAds.com, so treat our column as disclosed advocacy and check it the same way you would check theirs: the rows where we do not compete say so plainly.

- Ask each vendor what you can take away at the end: an exportable ad-set you own, or performance inside their managed programme.
- Ask Appcast to scope creative separately from media, and ask what the Creative Studio engagement costs when the media spend is removed from it.
- Ask Adway whether you can restrict a template to approved assets only, and who signs off before an ad publishes if autopilot is switched on.
- Ask both for their ATS integration list in writing (Adway names 34 publicly, Appcast publishes none) and confirm your own ATS is on it.
