Safe zones

## Every safe zone, in one table

One row per placement, with the platform's own figure, how the platform classifies it, and the page it came from. Where a platform publishes nothing, the row says so instead of guessing.

Every Meta safe-zone percentage is a design recommendation, not a hard requirement. Meta’s own wording is "Consider leaving", and nothing is rejected at upload for violating one.

## Which placements take your aspect ratio

The tool detects your file's ratio and lights up the placements that accept it. Same answer, in a table.

How it works

## How the tool works

### Load a file, or start from a sample

Drop in an MP4, MOV, JPEG or PNG, or click a preset. The tool reads the aspect ratio and lights up the placements that take it.

### Rendered locally, in recreated chrome

Each interface is drawn in code from published specs, not screenshotted. Your file stays in the browser and is shown whole rather than cropped.

### Two overlays to check against

UI chrome outlines what the app draws over your creative. Published safe zone draws the platform's own figure, with its source and date. Where a platform publishes none, the overlay says so.

Which number to use

## When two spec sheets disagree, this is usually why

Platforms contradict themselves. Two examples below, each with the figure to build to and the page it comes from. Every platform page carries its own set.

- Meta publishes two bottom reserves for Facebook Stories.

Follow 35%. It is the figure Meta uses on every other vertical placement page.

[See the sources on the platform page](https://recruitmentads.com/free-tools/ad-mockup/facebook#conflicts)

- TikTok In-Feed specs differ by buying type.

Match the table to how you buy. Auction In-Feed allows up to 10 minutes at a 516 kbps floor and accepts .avi; reservation requires 5 to 60 seconds at 2,500 kbps and drops .avi.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is the ad mockup tool free?

Yes. There is no paid tier of this tool, no account, and no email gate. It is a free tool from RecruitmentAds.com, which makes recruitment ad sets; the tool stays free either way.

### Does my file get uploaded?

No. Your file is read in your browser and rendered locally into the placement chrome. It is never sent anywhere and nothing about it is stored. Closing the tab removes it.

### Which placements does the tool cover?

Eleven placements across seven platforms: Instagram Reels, Story and Feed, Facebook Story, Reels and Feed, TikTok For You, Snapchat, LinkedIn Feed, YouTube In-Stream, and X Feed. The rail always shows all eleven and marks which ones take your file's aspect ratio.

### Why do some placements not take my file?

Placements accept specific aspect ratios. A 9:16 vertical file fits 7 of the 11 placements, 1:1 and 4:5 fit 3, and 16:9 fits 4. That is a property of the platforms, not of the tool, and the format pills let you switch ratio to compare.

### Are the mockups screenshots of the apps?

No. Every placement is a recreation built from published specifications, drawn entirely in code with no platform image assets, and it may differ from the current product. RecruitmentAds.com is not affiliated with any of the platforms shown.

### Are the safe-zone overlays the platforms' own figures?

Where a platform publishes a figure, the overlay quotes it with its classification, source and accessed date. Every Meta safe-zone percentage is a design recommendation, not a hard requirement. Where a platform publishes no figure, the tool says so instead of inventing one.

### What file types can I load?

MP4 and MOV video, and JPEG and PNG images. HEIC, the iPhone default photo format, cannot be read by most browsers, so export it as JPEG first. Files over 200 MB still load, with a warning.
