Lumina vs Reelist (2026): which recruitment ad tool is right for you?

This page compares Lumina at lumina.co (video job postings for hiring teams, owned by CareerArc since April 2024) with Reelist at reelist.com, the US social-recruiting platform for frontline hiring. Not Lumina Learning, the Lumina Foundation, Lumina AI or get-lumina.com; not the Reelist fishing, film or reel-list apps.

Both tools start from a vacancy and finish in a social feed, and neither publishes a price, which is why they land on the same shortlist and why the shortlist rarely resolves on its own. Lumina sends back one hosted, branded video per job and lets you decide where it runs; Reelist keeps the creative, buys the media and sends back screened applicants in your ATS. RecruitmentAds.com is the disclosed third column here: it returns the finished video and static ad-sets from your vacancy link, in your locked template, for you to run in your own ad accounts, and it is the only one of the three whose prices you can read before a call.

What each tool ships

Lumina

Lumina, founded in Portland, Oregon in 2020, turns a job posting into a roughly 30-second branded video without filming: you paste the job URL, or connect a career page or ATS feed, and Lumina handles the writing, editing, custom branding, rendering and uploading, delivering within hours. Each video lands in a hosted, searchable library with share, embed and download links for email, social, career sites, SMS and job boards, including a "Powered by Lumina" white-label embed. Its logo wall is genuinely enterprise (Amazon, FedEx, Honda, Stanford Healthcare, AMN Healthcare, HCA, Kelly Services), and it publishes lift figures, including a pharma job-board embed where apply rate moved from 12.13% to 28.28%.

Reelist

Reelist, founded in Norfolk, Virginia in 2022 and backed by a $3M seed round announced in February 2025, is a managed social-recruiting platform for US frontline and high-volume hiring: construction, skilled trades, healthcare, hospitality and retail, manufacturing and warehousing. Jobs sync in from the ATS (16 systems listed on its integrations page, seven flagged Beta) or you enter them directly with locations and screening questions; you pick a job and enter a budget, and Reelist fills in timeline, targeting and creative, runs paid and organic social, screens applicants in the feed and writes pre-screened applicants back to the ATS in real time. Its customer wall is frontline-heavy and recognisable (Starbucks, DoorDash, Panera Bread, Turner Construction, Newport News Shipbuilding), and its case studies quote hiring outcomes rather than creative work.

RecruitmentAds.com

RecruitmentAds.com is recruitment ad creative production, and it is our own product: read this column as disclosed rather than neutral. A vacancy URL or pasted job text goes in and a finished creative set comes out: video in 9:16, 4:5, 1:1 and landscape with AI voice-over, plus matching static variants, inside a locked brand template where marketing decides whether recruiters may use AI-generated scenes from the job description, real approved employee photos, or approved assets only. It buys no media, hosts nothing, screens nobody and has no native ATS integration: you download the files and run them in the Meta and LinkedIn accounts you already own.

Lumina vs Reelist vs RecruitmentAds.com, row by row

Every cell is a full sentence naming its vendor, so it still means something quoted on its own. Lumina and Reelist facts were verified against their own sites and sitemaps on 5 August 2026, with the SERP re-checked on 6 August 2026; company, funding, headcount and review figures are secondhand and labelled where used. The RecruitmentAds.com column is ours and says plainly where we do not compete. Read the pricing row first: it is the row that decides how long your evaluation takes, because two of these three answers only arrive after a demo.

Facts verified 2026-08-06. “—” means not published by the vendor.

What it isLumina turns a pasted job-posting URL into a hosted, roughly 30-second branded video job posting delivered within hours.Reelist is a US managed social-recruiting platform for frontline hiring: jobs sync from the ATS, campaigns launch with AI-generated creative, and pre-screened applicants write back into the ATS.RecruitmentAds.com turns a vacancy URL or pasted job text into a finished ad-set (video in feed, square, vertical and landscape plus matching static variants) inside your locked brand template.
What you start fromLumina starts from a live job-posting URL you paste, or from job openings it pulls out of your career pages and ATS feeds.Reelist starts from your ATS: jobs sync automatically or are entered directly with locations and screening questions, and then you pick a job and enter a budget.RecruitmentAds.com starts from one vacancy link or the job text, and extracts the title, requirements, perks, logo, fonts and brand colours into your template.
Video outputLumina's core output is one branded ~30-second video per vacancy, produced as a service ("writing, editing, custom branding, rendering and uploading" handled) within hours to 24 hours.Reelist's video output is claimed but unverified: funding press and a January 2026 podcast describe video job postings, while Reelist's own product pages say only "Choose from AI-generated, social-optimized content" without naming a format (checked 5 August 2026).RecruitmentAds.com exports MP4s in 9:16 vertical, 4:5 feed, 1:1 square and landscape from one job post, with AI voice-over written from the vacancy text and re-generated when the copy changes.
Static ad creativeLumina produces no static ad creative: its output is video only.Reelist claims no static ad output anywhere on its site, so treat statics as undocumented rather than absent (checked 5 August 2026).RecruitmentAds.com includes matching static variants in the same credit as the video, which is what makes a video-versus-image test on a single vacancy possible.
Visual-source choiceLumina generates visuals one way (template-driven auto-generation from the job-description text) with no employee-photo mode and no approved-assets-only mode observed.Reelist offers no visual-source choice either: AI-generated creative is the stated default, with no approved-asset library and no employee-photo mode documented, and its TikTok page recommends real employees as advice rather than as a product mode.RecruitmentAds.com makes the visual source a choice per template: AI-generated scenes from the job description, real approved employee photos, or approved assets only with no AI-generated people.
Brand governanceLumina's brand control is a one-time Brand Template setup (colours, tone, content blocks): brand approximation rather than locked-template governance.Reelist has no brand-governance layer; "compliance" on its site means automated ad-platform approval checks, not locked templates, approval workflows or approved-asset controls.RecruitmentAds.com locks the template, fonts, colours and permitted visual modes so recruiters self-serve inside marketing's guardrails; it does not ship role-based permissions or multi-step approval workflows, and pilots run as a shared workspace.
Who runs the mediaLumina does not buy media as part of the video: paid social runs through Jobtip Boost, a separate advertising product it offers under partner co-brand, while the video itself ships as share, embed and download links.Reelist runs the media itself: it sets timeline, targeting and pacing from the budget you enter and buys the paid plus organic social placements as a managed service.RecruitmentAds.com does not compete on this row: it buys no media and runs no campaigns at all. You upload the exports into your own Meta and LinkedIn accounts and keep the spend, the pacing and the pixel data.
Where the creative ends upLumina hosts each video in a searchable library and issues share, embed and download links, including a "Powered by Lumina" white-label embed for job boards.Reelist's output is the live campaign it runs, and whether you can export and keep the creative once a campaign or contract ends is not stated anywhere on its site (checked 5 August 2026).RecruitmentAds.com is export-only and hosts nothing: the files are yours to reuse on career pages, in organic posts and in recruiter outreach, but if a live embed URL is load-bearing in your workflow that is a real gap on our side.
Applicants and ATSLumina shows ATS logos for Workday, iCIMS, Taleo and Breezy HR (plus Indeed, a job site) with no public integration docs, and claims no applicant screening or write-back anywhere on its site.Reelist screens applicants in the feed and writes them back into the ATS in real time, listing 16 ATS integrations on its integrations page (seven flagged Beta) plus several more in its homepage logo strip, including Ashby, JazzHR, Breezy and Dayforce.RecruitmentAds.com has no native ATS integration and no candidate flow as of August 2026: it reads the public job page instead, so it works with any ATS's vacancy URL without an integration project, and applications keep running through your existing process.
Pricing model and published pricesLumina publishes no prices: lumina.co/pricing redirects to /pricingold, which returns 404, and no pricing URL appears in its sitemap (checked 5 August 2026); the only figure in circulation is a secondhand $295-per-video, 24-hour-turnaround writeup (Mac's List, undated, possibly pre-acquisition), and its trial is, in its own words, a paid one.Reelist publishes no prices either: there is no pricing page in its sitemap, the model is a per-campaign media budget you enter, sales is demo-led, and its agency programme mentions a revenue-share plan with no numbers (checked 5 August 2026).RecruitmentAds.com publishes its plans and 90-day pilot terms on /pricing (Starter, Custom and Scale for employers and staffing firms at 100, 250 and 500 finished creative sets a year, plus agency workspace tiers) priced in EUR, GBP or USD by region, where one credit equals one finished creative set.
Company and stageLumina was founded in Portland, Oregon in 2020 and has been owned by CareerArc Group LLC since 3 April 2024 (terms undisclosed); its headcount is 11-50 per ZoomInfo, secondhand, and Lumina does not disclose it.Reelist was founded in Norfolk, Virginia in 2022, raised a $3M seed announced in February 2025, and is a 7-to-10-person company per conflicting secondhand sources (Tracxn says 7, PitchBook says 10).RecruitmentAds.com is independently owned recruitment ad software and does not publish a headcount either; this column is ours, so verify it the way you would verify theirs.
Third-party reviewsLumina has no verifiable third-party rating: no G2 or Capterra profile for lumina.co was found in a search-only check on 5 August 2026, and the Capterra "Lumina" profiles that do exist belong to unrelated products (all secondhand).Reelist has no verifiable third-party rating either: no G2 or Capterra score for Reelist was found in a search-only check on 5 August 2026, and its proof lives in eight owned case studies and podcast coverage (all secondhand).RecruitmentAds.com publishes no aggregate review score, so no column here can be settled by ratings: no aggregateRating markup appears on this page, and asking each vendor for references in your own vertical is the only real substitute.
Languages and marketsLumina makes no localisation or multi-language claim anywhere on its site (checked 5 August 2026), and its market is the United States with a healthcare and staffing vertical focus.Reelist's market is the United States only, and no language or localisation capability appears anywhere on its site (checked 5 August 2026).RecruitmentAds.com exports on-screen text and AI voice-over in any language from the same job post and the same locked template, and prices in EUR, GBP and USD by region.
Best fitLumina is best for US enterprise TA teams, staffing agencies, healthcare systems and job boards that want each vacancy videoised without filming, hosted and ready to embed.Reelist is best for US multi-location frontline and high-volume employers that want social recruiting run for them end to end and are measured on applicants rather than on creative.RecruitmentAds.com is best for in-house TA teams, staffing firms and agency or RPO partners that need on-brand video and static ad-sets per vacancy, and want to own, reuse and run them themselves.

Which of the three should you choose?

Choose Lumina if…

…the deliverable you need is a hosted, branded video per vacancy that you can embed and share, and you would rather brief a vendor than operate a tool. Lumina describes handling the writing, editing, custom branding, rendering and uploading itself, within hours, then drops each video into a searchable library with share, embed and download links, including a "Powered by Lumina" white-label embed for job boards, which neither of the other two offers. One thing to settle first: since 3 April 2024 Lumina and CareerArc are the same company, so if CareerArc is already on your shortlist for organic social, this is one conversation rather than two.

Choose Reelist if…

…you are measured on applicants rather than on creative, and you want the media bought, paced and optimised for you. You pick a job and enter a budget; Reelist fills in the timeline, targeting and creative, runs paid and organic social across Meta, TikTok, Messenger, WhatsApp and SMS, screens candidates in the feed and writes pre-screened applicants into your ATS in real time across 16 listed integrations. For a US multi-location frontline employer with nobody to log into Ads Manager, that closed loop is a stronger promise than any creative tool, ours included.

Choose RecruitmentAds.com if…

…the ad-sets themselves are the point: video in every placement size Meta and LinkedIn Campaign Manager take, plus matching statics, inside your locked template, with the visual source decided per template: AI-generated scenes from the job description, real approved employee photos, or approved assets only. Neither Lumina nor Reelist offers that choice, and neither hands you static creative you own. It is also the only one of the three you can price and see before a conversation: plan and 90-day pilot terms are published, and a sample gets built from a job link you send.

Who should pick what

Sole recruiter

For a sole recruiter or a small in-house team, RecruitmentAds.com is the only one of the three that can be sized without a sales call (published plans, published 90-day pilot terms, one credit for one finished creative set), while Lumina runs a paid trial with no published price and Reelist is demo-led around multi-location ATS-synced hiring rather than one vacancy at a time.

TA team

For a TA team, the answer follows what you are accountable for: Reelist if it is applicants landing in the ATS, Lumina if it is a branded video per requisition that hosting and embedding solve, RecruitmentAds.com if it is on-brand creative volume across many roles and markets, though RecruitmentAds.com loses outright if you need native ATS integration, role-based permissions or multi-step approval workflows, none of which it ships.

Employer-branding-led buyer

For an employer-branding-led buyer, RecruitmentAds.com is usually the answer, because what may appear in an ad becomes a decision marketing makes per locked template: AI-generated scenes, real approved employee photos, or approved assets only; Lumina's control stops at a one-time Brand Template of colours, tone and content blocks, and Reelist has no brand-governance layer at all, since its "compliance" means Meta and TikTok policy approval rather than yours.

What most comparisons miss

There is no comparison of these two to get wrong yet, and that is the first useful fact. Searching "lumina vs reelist" in Google US on 6 August 2026 returns Reelist's own page comparing itself to programmatic advertising at number one, then a different Lumina in nearly every slot below it (an inventory-planning tool, an unrelated Lumina AI product, Lumina Learning, the Lumina Foundation), so the aggregator pages that look authoritative are about other companies. Two facts a shortlist actually needs. First, Lumina has not been independent since 3 April 2024, when CareerArc Group LLC acquired it for undisclosed terms; lumina.co still carries no ownership disclosure, so a list holding both Lumina and CareerArc holds one company twice. Second, "video versus video" is an assumption here rather than a documented fact: Lumina states a ~30-second branded video per vacancy, while Reelist's own product pages promise only "AI-generated, social-optimized content" and never name a format; the video description comes from 2025 funding press and a January 2026 podcast. Neither point makes either tool weak at the job it was built for; both change what you should ask on the first call.

Evaluate RecruitmentAds on your own vacancy

Send one live vacancy link and look at what comes back: feed, vertical, square and landscape video with AI voice-over, matching static variants in the same set, inside your template, using the visual source your brand policy allows. Plans, credits and the 90-day pilot terms are published, so you can work out what a year costs before deciding whether a call is worth your time, which is not possible with either Lumina or Reelist today, since neither publishes a price. And if what you actually need is media buying or pre-screened applicants in your ATS, we will point you at Reelist instead.

Questions buyers actually ask

Lumina vs Reelist: which is better?

Neither, in the abstract. They sell different deliverables. Lumina sells an asset: one hosted, branded ~30-second video per vacancy, delivered within hours, with share, embed and download links. Reelist sells an outcome: it takes a budget, runs paid and organic social with AI-generated creative, screens applicants in the feed and writes them back into your ATS. If you need creative to use across channels, Lumina is the closer fit; if you need applicants and have nobody to run campaigns, Reelist is. Both publish no price and both are US-only (checked 5 August 2026).

What is the actual difference between Lumina and Reelist?

Where each one stops. Lumina stops at the video and hands you links: you decide where it runs and pay for any media yourself, with paid social available through its separate Jobtip Boost product. Reelist does not stop until an applicant is in your ATS: it fills in timeline, targeting and creative from the budget you enter, buys the placements, screens candidates in the feed and syncs them back. Put crudely, Lumina documents its format and Reelist documents its outcome.

Which one gives us ad creative we can keep and reuse?

Lumina, of the two: each video comes with download links alongside the share and embed links. With Reelist the creative exists inside the campaign it runs, and nothing on its site says whether you can export and keep it when the campaign or contract ends (checked 5 August 2026). Neither produces static ad creative (Lumina is video only and Reelist claims no statics anywhere), so if you want video plus matching statics from one vacancy for image-versus-video tests, that is the gap RecruitmentAds.com fills.

How much do Lumina and Reelist cost?

Neither publishes a price. lumina.co/pricing redirects to /pricingold, which returns 404, and no pricing URL is in its sitemap; the only figure in circulation is a secondhand $295-per-video writeup from Mac's List, undated and possibly from before the CareerArc acquisition. Reelist has no pricing page in its sitemap and works from a per-campaign media budget you enter, with the number arriving after a demo. That is the practical reason RecruitmentAds.com is the easier one to evaluate upfront: plan prices and 90-day pilot terms are on our pricing page in EUR, GBP or USD by region, and a sample gets built from your own job link (all checked 5-6 August 2026).

Where does RecruitmentAds not compete with Lumina or Reelist?

Media buying, applicant flow and hosting. RecruitmentAds.com buys no media, so it cannot replace what Reelist does with a budget; it has no in-feed apply, no screening and no native ATS integration, so it cannot deliver pre-screened applicants; and it hosts nothing, so it cannot give you a Lumina-style embed URL for a career page or a job board. What it does is produce the finished ad-sets (video in every placement size plus matching statics, in a locked brand template, with the visual source chosen per template) and stop there.

How we compared these three

Lumina and Reelist facts come from their own websites and sitemaps, checked on 5 August 2026 and cited in the source list below; the SERP for "lumina vs reelist" was checked in Google US on 6 August 2026. Company, funding, headcount and review data on both sides is secondhand (ZoomInfo, Tracxn, PitchBook, press) and labelled wherever it is used, because neither vendor has a verifiable G2 or Capterra score and neither publishes a price. We have not run a Reelist campaign or bought a Lumina video, so where a claim is theirs it is quoted as theirs, and where their own pages are silent this page says "not documented" rather than "does not exist": that distinction matters most on Reelist's creative format and on static output. The RecruitmentAds.com column is our own product, disclosed as such, and is limited to what our published product and pricing pages support: no native ATS integration, no public API, no approval workflows or role-based permissions, no media buying. Plan and pilot figures live on our pricing page and vary by region and currency, so this page points at them instead of reprinting numbers that would go stale.

  • Ask each vendor to build one finished ad for a role like yours before you compare anything else. Lumina's format is documented (one ~30-second video per vacancy); Reelist's is not, and its product pages never name video or static.
  • Ask Reelist whether you can export and keep the creative when a campaign or contract ends, and how the money splits between platform fee and media spend. Neither is published anywhere on its site.
  • Ask Lumina whether you are buying Lumina or CareerArc. The two have been one company since April 2024 and lumina.co carries no ownership disclosure, which matters for roadmap, renewal and procurement.
  • Ask all three who decides what appears in the ad: who picks the visual source, and whether marketing can lock that choice per template rather than approving output ad by ad.
