Questions and answers

Questions about employer branding agencies

What is employer branding?

Employer branding is the reputation a company has as a place to work, and the work of shaping it on purpose. It covers what current staff say, what candidates see in ads and on careers pages, and the promise the company makes to the people it hires, usually written down as an employee value proposition. It is the long-term layer under recruitment marketing, which runs the campaigns that fill named roles.

What does an employer branding agency do?

It helps you work out what your company is really like to work for, put that into words and design, and get it in front of the people you want to hire. Typical work: employee research, an employee value proposition (the offer you make to staff), a careers brand identity, careers site content, film, and campaigns.

What is the difference between an employer branding agency and a recruitment marketing agency?

Two different purchases. An employer branding agency builds the brand and the creative system behind it: research, the employee value proposition, identity, content. A recruitment marketing agency runs the campaigns and buys the media that fill named roles. An RPO, or recruitment process outsourcing provider, is a third thing: it runs part or all of your hiring under contract. Some large firms sell all three and appear on more than one page here.

How much does an employer branding agency cost?

This work is usually sold as a project fee or a monthly retainer, and almost no agency publishes a rate card. We do not invent numbers. Each profile records the commercial model the agency itself publishes, and says not published when it publishes none. To find out, brief the same scope to two or three firms and compare what is inside the fee.

How do you choose an employer branding agency?

Start from the work: read two or three of their case studies and check whether the research, the creative and the rollout were done by the agency or by partners. Check who owns the firm, because a group-owned agency may steer you to its sister services. Check size against your budget. Then ask the questions on the profile, which are specific to each firm.

How do I get listed, or claim my agency's profile?

Listing is free and editorial, so nobody can buy a place. If your agency meets the three rules, tell us and we will research it like any other. If you are already listed, claim your profile with a work email on your agency domain. A claim lets you correct the facts and add your logo, contact, budget band, availability and more work. It never changes your position on this page.
